RULES & REGULATIONS
THE EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE STRONGLY SUGGESTS THAT ALL PARENTS AND/OR GUARDIANS READ THE RULES AND REGULATIONS WITH THEIR CHILDREN AND ENSURE THAT THEY ARE UNDERSTOOD BY ALL.
Members and guests are obliged to observe ALL rules and regulations of the pool staff and others responsible for the safety and maintenance of the property. Failure to comply with the rules and regulations will be cause for the suspension of membership.
DEFINITIONS
For the purposes of these rules and regulations, the following definitions apply:
Pool Area:
- The entire swimming pool complex, including washrooms
- Cookie Monster and pool buildings and all land inside the fence.
Public Hours:
- Hours where non-members are granted access to the facility upon payment of a fee as established by the Executive Committee.
Swimmer:
a person who can:
- Swim ONE length of the pool – 25 meters.
- Tread water for 30 seconds.
- Dive or jump off the one-meter board.
Non-swimmer:
- a person who can NOT fulfil all the requirements of the “Swimmer” category.
Adult:
anyone 16 years of age or over.
Senior Citizen:
anyone 55 years of age or over.
Family:
members of the immediate family of the applicant living at the same address to a maximum of 6 persons; 2 adults and children
ADMISSION TO THE POOL AREA
Admission to the pool area is restricted to members and their guests, except during those hours designated as PUBLIC HOURS. Members are permitted to bring guests to the pool subject to the following rules.
- A member must accompany and remain at the pool with their guests. Guests will be subjected to a fee as established by the Executive Committee
- Guests must produce appropriate identification (i.e. driver’s licence, medicare card, student card, MUCTC card etc.). Parents’ I.D. will be accepted for small children.
- Guests must comply with the rules and regulations of the pool and members are responsible for the conduct of their guests.
- ANY MEMBER WILL LOSE HIS GUESTS PRIVILEGES AFTER SUFFICIENT WARNING IF THE ABOVE RULES ARE ABUSED.
- An adult must accompany and remain with children under the age of 12.
Admission to the general public during PUBLIC HOURS will be subject to a fee as established by the Executive Committee. Members of the public who use the pool will be required to abide by the rules and regulations of the pool.
WATER RULES
- Non-swimmers under the age of 12 and/or under 48 inches in height are not permitted in the pool unless accompanied by an adult.
- Lifevests and inflatable devises are only permitted in the pool if a parent remains at “arms length” of their child AT ALL TIMES. There are NO exceptions to this rule and it will be strictly enforced. If a parent fails to remain at arms length of their child, they will receive a written warning. If it occurs again, the privilege will be revoked and may result in a suspension of membership. Oversize flotation devises will not be permitted. We reserve the right to forbid the use of any lifevest or device that is deemed unsafe.
- Steps must be clear at all times and may not be used as a play area.
- Jumping into the pool from or around the stairs, ladders or starting blocks is not permitted.
- Non-swimmers under the age of 3 years may be permitted into the pool during the hourly 15 minute “adult swim” if they are accompanied (held) by an adult. This provision is to be exercised at the discretion of the Pool Staff.
- Running, pushing, dunking, wrestling or horseplay in or about the pool area is strictly forbidden.
- Buoy lines are provided for dividing the pool areas. It is forbidden to sit or hang on these lines.
- Ladders are to be used only for climbing into and out of the pool.
- Diving into the diving area will be permitted only from the board, and with ONE bounce only. Upon completion of a dive, the diver should swim to the nearest ladder. Only one person at a time is permitted on each diving board. During “Free Deep”, however, diving will be permitted from the sides.
- No swimming is allowed in the diving area, except during “Free Deep”.
- Underwater swimming for prolonged lengths of time is discouraged.
- Non-swimmers are not permitted in the diving area except during instruction or examination.
Lifeguards on duty must not be engaged in conversation and all persons must stay clear of the lifeguard chairs or stations. If it is necessary to ask a question, wait until the lifeguard comes down. Instructions by the lifeguards must be obeyed.
LIFEGUARD’ SIGNALS:
- 1 short whistle: Check with lifeguard to see who is misbehaving.
- 1 long whistle: Everyone must be silent and listen to and obey lifeguard’s instructions.
- 2 short whistles: To get the attention of other guards.
- 1 long whistle: Everyone must IMMEDIATELY VACATE the pool and stand by the fence.
BABY POOL:
- Babies must wear bathing suits. No diapers are permitted, except swim diapers.
- The baby pool may be used by non-swimmers, aged 6 and under who must be accompanied by an adult.
- The baby pool area is supervised; Hours are posted on the gate.
HEALTH RULES:
- Persons with skin diseases, open lesions, colds, inflamed eyes, nasal or ear infections, communicable diseases, including athlete’s foot and planters warts, will not be allowed in the pool.
- Spitting, spouting water or blowing of the nose is strictly forbidden in the pool. Parents are requested to instruct their children not to urinate in the pool. Adequate bathroom facilities are provided.
- No animals are permitted in the pool area with the exception of guide dogs.
- Alcoholic beverages are not permitted in the pool area except during authorized social functions.
- Food and drinks must be in plastic containers and consumed away from the immediate pool area. NO GLASS is permitted. PLEASE DO NOT LITTER- USE GARBAGE CANS.
- Smoking is prohibited anywhere on the premises.
- All accidents or injuries, however minor, must be reported immediately to the Pool Manager or supervisor on duty. He/she will give first aid if necessary.
- AT NO TIME shall any unauthorised individual enter the pool area in the absence of a pool staff member or a member of the Executive Committee.
UNRULY CONDUCT
The pool manager may suspend any member or guest for an unlimited time for refusal to respect the Rules and Regulations or to heed warnings of the pool staff. This suspension will be imposed only after due warning. Such suspensions can be appealed IN WRITING to the Executive Committee. Vandalism of pool property or equipment will result in the immediate suspension of that member. The Executive Committee will withhold the member’s privileges until all costs of damages are paid and the Committee has judged the case. 24-hour cameras monitor the pool premises and any violation is a city offence, and will be handled accordingly.
RESPONSIBILITY AND SAFETY
Piscine Fairview Pool will not be responsible for losses or damage to personal property.
ALL PERSONS USING THE POOL FACILITIES DO SO AT THEIR OWN RISK. PISCINE FAIRVIEW POOL IS NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ACCIDENT OR INJURY CAUSED BY NEGLIGENCE OR DISREGARD OF POOL REGULATIONS OR FOR ANY OTHER REASON BEYOND THEIR CONTROL.
The Executive Committee reserves the right to add or amend the rules and regulations that affect the security and conduct of the members and the proper operation of the pool facility.
